The Guitar Song. is a 25-song, double album with thematically linked sets of songs dubbed the "Black Album" and the "White Album." "The original idea was always to do a double album," says Jamey. "The album is a tale. The first part of it is a very dark and sordid story. Everything after that is progressively more positive, reassuring and redemptive." The "Black" songs include the menacing, "Poor Man Blues," the defiant "Can't Cash My Checks," the sighing and bluesy "Even the Skies Are Blue" and the chilling "Heartache." The lighter, "White" songs are highlighted by the strongly autobiographical "That's Why I Write Songs," the languid "Front Porch Swing Afternoon," the rocking "Good Times Ain't What They Used to Be" and the easy-going groove tune "Macon." The ambitious project's textures are many and varied. "Baby Don't Cry" is a lullaby. "I Remember You" is a gospel song. "That's How I Don't Love You" is a deeply sad power ballad. "By the Seat of Your Pants" tells of life's lessons. The title tune, "The Guitar Song," is told from the point of view of two forgotten guitars hanging on a pawn shop wall. "Playing the Part" and "California Riots" come from feeling out of place as a country boy in Hollywood. As a lover of classic country sounds, he regularly performs oldies in his stage shows. The Guitar Song contains "For the Good Times,", "Set `Em Up Joe" and "Mental Revenge". "Lonely at the Top" is an undiscovered Keith Whitley song.

If you want to get a musical instrument that your child can master, and become part of a band, then you may want to consider a bass guitar. Whether it is rock or jazz even a young person can become proficient. So have your child get ready to pluck away while they jam. They show off their talent on a kids bass guitar and get the joy and discipline of learning a musical instrument. Once they learn the instrument they will be in demand for every jazz trio or garage band in town. A win-win situation if ever there was one.

Is the bass the right instrument for your child? Well, think about where it fits into the history of rock and roll. No rhythm section is complete without a great bass guitarist. Bill Wyman, John Entwhistle, Gary Tallent, all have two things in common. They were the quiet members of their great bands, and they were backbone of the bands. They chilled while 60,000 fans yelled for more. But these musicians weren’t just spectators. These great musicians have put the signature beat on some of the great rock anthems. Paul McCartney is also a bass player, I heard he’s done pretty well for himself. Or maybe your kid wants to hand out with the Marsalis brothers or David Sanbourne. Nothing wrong with that. If you get a kids bass guitar, you can do your part to make sure this tradition continues.

If you get a kids bass guitar, or any bass guitar, exactly what are you getting? There are a few differences between a bass guitar and a standard electric guitar. The bass guitar started replacing the standup bass in the 1950’s. Any bass guitar has four (usually) to six strings. A bass guitar player is responsible for the lower clef notes in an arrangement. Since it is electric, of course, it needs to have an amplifier to provide sound. With this instrument you lay down the beat.

But a youngster will need a smaller instrument. If they are not comfortable, it will be more difficult for them to reach their potential. A smaller bass will fit them more comfortably so the kid can focus on his music. Of course, your choices are a little more limited than a full size guitar, but the size advantage will make it worth it. This size advantage is not only good for younger musicians, but also works for anyone who needs a smaller axe or has limited space.

When I started out in the Learn To Play Guitar For Beginners part of my chosen career, I, Like everyone else on the planet did what I thought was a mean version of "Smoke On The Water" by Deep Purple. However in hindsight, it sounded more like my neighbors dog at 6.am on a Sunday morning.

I'm sure you realize that there are many benefits in learning to play the guitar, Being at a party and pulling out a couple of tunes will ensure you get invited to the next neighborhood "A list" get together, And girls just love a good ballad especially if you can sing ok as well. Base guitar selection is a very personal thing as some players prefer more tone, others prefer 5 strings to four - the selection criteria is endless. But there are a few very basic aspects of your prospective guitar that you must decide on before buying the perfect acoustic bass guitar.

Bass acoustic guitar sound depends very much on the shape of the sound box as well as the wood it was made from. Light weight woods produce crispier tones as in comparison the heavier woods that have an inclination to produce more moody deep sounds. Keep in mind how your instrument will blend in with other instruments.

Many guitar makers learned that the wood they used to carve the top of the guitar from may be the most important factor as far as sound reproduction is concerned. They choose woods according to the sound velocity properties of that specific wood.

Mahogany wood as top will bring out strong solid tones that can accommodate higher ends of the sound spectrum. Many country guitar players enjoy the sound of mahogany instruments.

Opposite to mahogany, rose wood tops are very light and produce very clear and light sounds. Rose wood has a very high velocity sound index, making it perfect for a wide spectrum of uses in guitar building. Bass acoustic guitars with rose wood tops are very popular as they tend to have a great playability.

Players that play their instrument quite hard, rely on the fast tonal velocity of Sitka Spruce. This lightweight wood is very strong and widely used in the manufacturing of many different musical instruments. Bass players learned that sitka tops may scream a bit if played softly like an ordinary acoustic guitar.

Once you selected the wood on your guitar, count the frets. Most bass guitars have twenty one, two or twenty four frets. Choose the total that suits your style of playing best.

While in than area, hold the neck and feel how it sits in your hand. Bass guitars may have many different shaped necks that range from oval to round with some flat variations in between.

Have a look at the tuning machines at the top of the neck. Good tuners make for perfect pitch in tuning, but poor tuners will see your pitch slide away as they can not hold on to the setting of the string.

Many bass players prefer a coated finger board to get maximum vibration sounds going up and down the neck. Coated boards help prevent that sliding sound some of us hate so much. Classic base players go for the uncoated neck as they chase clear and precise notes rather than harmonies.

Never forget to test the intonation of the bass with any other instrument that is in tune. Give special attention to the frets from number 12 upwards, as most problems occur in this range. Should the frets be too far or too near to each other, your ear will immediately pick up the intonation going out of sync with the other instrument you are using as a test.

There are very more factors to consider before buying an instrument, but these should cover the basics. Should you find these in place, you can go on and start looking at finishes, makes and models to choose from.

Some bass guitar players who have not been practicing long guess as a bassist they perhaps should learn chords on their bass. I am not sure if this is due to the fact quite a few bass players begin on regular guitar before they play bass. Chords can be played on eclectic bass but much more often single notes are played.

As a bass player it is more important to have the ability to play over chords, than playing bass guitar chords.

Chords on bass can sound clearer 6-string bass guitars due to being able to player higher notes on the extra string. Playing chords on the deeper notes tend to sound muddy due to this fact it is a good idea to play chords high up the neck around the 12Th fret area.

If you want to begin learning how to play chords on bass there is an easy way to get going. Bass chords charts can be really handy and show you which notes you should be playing. These chord charts can be written in bass tab format or in chord box format. These diagrams are rather simple to read after you get used to them.

Using a bass guitar chords chart to learn some bass chords will give you another skill to use in your bass playing. Bass guitar chords are sometimes used in Jazz music much more than something like punk.

As a new bass player it can be tough to attempt to play chords at first. You need a lot of finger strength to be able to fret multiple strings without them buzzing and sounding terrible.

After a bit of practise, playing bass chords can be very enjoyable and can sound fantastic.

Hopefully now you have an insight of chord on bass and you can now a easy way to pick them up is with a bass chords chart. So begin giving them a go and soon you will be able to play chord on bass in no time.

Take a look at my bass website for your free bass chords charts. You will also find lots of other useful lessons to help you learn bass guitar.
