I'd say about 1 cm (10 mm) is almost perfect, what you think? I just play heavy metal for I am not worried by slapping or popping, etc.
large personal preferences I have mine set fairly low. Less than 1 cm. I like the strings as close as I can get without vibrating against guitar. if you play metal cords may have point and therefore less tense so you may need more space
Fender Stratocaster: Electric Guitar Setup : How to String a Fender Stratocaster Guitar
Hello, I am interested in playing bass. I already play the drums and some keys but I wanted to become familiar with guitars. I had an acoustic guitar, but I was so frustrated with what they gave me but now I am determined to focus and move forward. I did not want to go straight to buy an electric guitar lead, so I'm deciding to buy a bass, I was wondering what brands do you recommend playing bass. I was thinking of a Dean Zone XM 4string low power under a brand name as a starter or maybe Ibanez electric. . . Any advice is appreciated. . . thanks:)
I would like go to a dean for a beginner ... I have one and mkany other guitars and my Dean is still my favorite. Mucaians friend has great prices on them

looking to learn the bass, I have several questions-1. 5 or 4 string bass 2.songs well that easy listening (other than Seven Nation Army) 3. whatever you think you should know
1. This is a kind of personal preference. People say that 4 is better than 5 years for beginners because it is "harder to get used to" ... I do not think that's the case, however. I started on a 3-Low sequence (haha, do not ask> _ <), and moved straight from that to a 5; insurance, had a short time to adjust, but not very long, and then of it was great =). If you start at 5, would not actually "adapt" to whatever, as being what you learned first = P I prefer 5 string. Access to the lower notes can really help a lot if you play music with alternate tunings (and there are a lot these days), and even to give more notes of the same hand positions - which increases its versatility and reduces the mobility of the hand. If you are looking for a 4-string, I suggest a Fender Jazz / Precision (Jazz is more versatile, precision is good for punk / rock, but not so flexible). Some people do not like Fender, but most are recognized as quality instruments. Without But his 5-String bass notes are not very big, so I avoid them if I were you. Ibanez makes about 5 large chain, and the prices are very good too - you can get a 5-string Ibanez GSR205 of about $ 300 - this is an impressive starter instrument, the Slovak Republic and low series GSR is really thin, comfortable neck, so no feels like you're playing a board (A lot of 5-strings have very fat neck). There are plenty of bands that have good bass lines, but just as easy to find bands with the bass very boring = P ... once you start playing bass, is much easier to select the bass line in the music you hear. Try the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Thrice, The Who ... I do not know what genre you're looking for = P I hope that helps a little, and you find what you're looking =) Cheers!
